Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and reports on protection activities.
- Drafts analyses of the security, socioeconomic, cultural, and political environment relevant to the ICRC.
- Collects, compiles, and interprets protection-related information from direct and indirect sources, and prepares written reports.
- Interacts with internal and external stakeholders such as the municipal/regional authorities, local/regional National Society branches, the local population, suppliers, etc.
- Ensures the sustainability of their work and puts in place a system for archiving their work for the purposes of institutional memory.
- Liaise and support the teams in the Sub-delegations on documentation and analysis of the Protection events.
- Reviews the reporting from the Sub-delegations on protection activities and coaches the field, including sharing of best practices from other structures.
- Carries-out quality checks of the entries from the teams in the Sub-delegations.
- Provide briefings to the newly arriving staff and trains the newly recruited protection field officers involved in protection activities.
- Attends the Protection UN meetings and meetings with other relevant protection interlocuters and keeps informed about the latest updates in the Protection Sector in Syria.
- Liaises with other departments on the follow-up of transversal files, including Health Care in Danger (HCiD).
- Takes the lead on one or more transversal themes at the delegation level (Access to Education, HCiD etc.).
Qualifications
- University degree or relevant professional experience.
- 6 years’ overall professional experience, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
- 3-4 years’ previous legal or protection experience or in a similar field or a similar organization.
- Proven experience and leadership of managing protection activities/projects.
- Excellent command of English and Arabic.
