Responsibilities
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the day-to-day implementation of rehabilitation activities for the targeted schools in Daraa.
2. Coordinate closely with site engineers and contractors to ensure quality and timely implementation.
3. Prepare, review, and update project work plans and progress reports.
4. Conduct frequent field visits to monitor progress, identify gaps, and document field findings.
5. Ensure activities comply with engineering standards and donor requirements.
6. Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and technical reports in coordination with the engineering team.
7. Support the MEAL team in monitoring, evaluation, and verification processes.
8. Participate in coordination meetings with local councils and education directorates when required.
9. Manage project documentation, ensuring proper archiving and confidentiality.
10. Provide regular progress updates and recommendations to the WASH & Shelter Coordinator.
11. Perform other tasks assigned by the line manager, in alignment with project needs.
ADDITIONAL NOTES :
· The position requires frequent field visits across Daraa governorate.
· Flexibility in working hours is required based on project needs.
· The Project Officer will play a key role in ensuring the successful and timely delivery of the school rehabilitation project.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
General Work Experience:
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing or implementing WASH & Shelter
projects, particularly in school or facility rehabilitation.
· Proven experience in project planning, coordination, reporting, and monitoring.
· Experience in supervising technical teams and ensuring compliance with engineering and humanitarian standards.
Specific Vacancy Requirements
Skills:
· Languages: Excellent Arabic (spoken and written) and good English skills.
· Computer Skills: Strong command of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and
engineering design tools (AutoCAD required).
· Technical Knowledge: Understanding of WASH and Shelter humanitarian standards
(SPHERE, INEE).
· Project Management: Strong skills in planning, reporting, and team supervision.
· Coordination: Ability to liaise effectively with local authorities, contractors, and community stakeholders.
Abilities :
- Ability to manage and organize engineering documents (BOQs, technical reports, and project records) systematically.
- Strong follow-up, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to identify challenges and propose practical solutions. - Capable of working under pressure and adapting to dynamic field conditions to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Willingness to work extra hours when necessary to meet project deadlines and ensure work completion.
- Detail-oriented and analytical mindset to verify data accuracy, conduct assessments, and maintain the integrity of technical reports.
