Responsibilities
•Program & Technical Implementation
•Supervise day-to-day rehabilitation and construction works under WASH and school rehabilitation activities
•Ensure implementation follows approved technical designs, BoQs, safety standards, and quality requirements
•Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, and material quality
•Identify technical challenges and propose practical corrective solutions
•Construction Monitoring & Reporting
•Prepare daily and weekly site progress reports
•Document completed works using site notes, photos, and as-built drawings
•Maintain accurate technical records and site documentation
•Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
•Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, school administration, and local authorities
•Support smooth workflow and timely completion of activities
•Participate in coordination meetings when required
•Technical Support & Compliance
•Support technical assessments of buildings prior to and during rehabilitation
•Prepare and review BoQs and technical drawings
•Ensure works comply with donor, organizational, and humanitarian standards
•Materials & Resource Monitoring
•Track availability and market prices of construction materials
•Verify materials delivered on site match specifications
•technical feedback on structural or design modifications required during implementation.
•Oversee and supervise the day-to-day rehabilitation activities at targeted schools, ensuring alignment with approved technical designs, BoQs, and quality standards.
•Conduct regular field visits to assess implementation progress, material quality, and adherence to safety measures.
•Coordinate closely with contractors, laborers, school administration, and local authorities to ensure smooth execution of works.
•Prepare daily and weekly progress reports detailing progress, challenges, and any necessary corrective actions.
•Monitor the availability and market prices of construction materials required for school rehabilitation (e.g., cement, tiles, paint, doors/windows).
•Support in the technical assessment of school buildings prior to and during rehabilitation.
•Document work completed through photos, checklists, and engineer site notes.
•Ensure proper record-keeping of technical documents, site photos, contractor communications, and materials received.
•Provide technical input to support the WASH Coordinator and project management team.
•Participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders when needed.
•Perform other related duties as assigned by the line manager to ensure the successful implementation of the school rehabilitation activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or related engineering discipline
•Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising rehabilitation or construction projects (preferably humanitarian or public infrastructure)
•Strong knowledge of construction quality control and site supervision
•Experience in school or public facility rehabilitation is an asset.
Specific Vacancy Requirements
•Languages: Good written and spoken English; excellent Arabic
•Computing: Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Strong design and technical drafting skills, capable of preparing and revising engineering drawings, layouts, and as-built plans.
•Strong coordination, documentation, and problem-solving skills
•Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
•Desirable
•Experience in school or public facility rehabilitation
•Experience working in humanitarian or conflict-affected settings
•Familiarity with donor compliance and technical reporting
