General Role:
The Stabilization Support Unit (SSU) is seeking to recruit a MEAL Coordinator to join its team in Damascus and Aleppo. The MEAL Coordinator will coordinate monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities within projects to ensure effective data collection and analysis, while supporting field and administrative teams in improving program performance.
This role contributes to gathering and analyzing information to provide practical, evidence-based recommendations, enhancing accountability to beneficiaries and donors, and achieving optimal results in humanitarian and development programs. The position also serves as a key link between MEAL teams and senior management to ensure data and reports are of high quality and effectively used for decision-making and performance improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities within the project or program.
- Support the development and implementation of data collection and analysis tools (surveys, interviews, focus group discussions).
- Collect data from field teams and ensure its accuracy and quality.
- Prepare periodic project reports for senior management and donors.
- Monitor project indicators and progress, providing data-driven recommendations.
- Assist in organizing learning sessions and documenting lessons learned to improve projects.
- Support field teams in using data for day-to-day decision-making.
- Contribute to needs assessments and field studies as required.
- Ensure compliance with humanitarian standards, ethical practices, and data protection policies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in MEAL within humanitarian or development sectors.
- Experience in designing and implementing data collection and analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of SPSS, Power BI, or Kobo/ODK is preferred.
- Familiarity with humanitarian standards (Sphere, Core Humanitarian Standard).
- Strong report writing and communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills to work effectively within a team and across different teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
