Under the overall supervision of the Basic Services and Infrastructure Rehabilitation Technical Officer in the Southern Area Office and the direct supervision of the WWTP Lead Project Officer, the Project Officer – Structural / Construction Engineer will:
• Review and comment on structural drawings, reinforcement details, bar bending schedules, formwork drawings and method statements submitted by the contractor, ensuring compliance with the approved structural design and geotechnical recommendations.
• Supervise construction of all reinforced concrete works on site, including foundations, ground tanks, channels, chambers, and buildings, with particular attention to reinforcement placement, cover, compaction, curing and waterproofing.
• Monitor dewatering, excavation support and foundation works in accordance with the geotechnical report, ensuring stability and protection of excavations and adjacent structures.
• Verify the quality of materials used in structural works (cement, aggregates, reinforcement steel, admixtures, waterproofing systems) through on site checks and laboratory test reports.
• Ensure correct implementation of construction joints, expansion joints, crack control and protection measures to address high groundwater and aggressive soil conditions.
• Coordinate with the civil/process and electrical team members to ensure structural works integrate properly with embedded items, pipe penetrations, equipment foundations, cable trenches, and support systems.
• Identify constructability issues or non conformities early and propose practical technical solutions and corrective actions, in agreement with the supervision team and designer.
• Participate in inspections, quality control tests (concrete cubes, rebar tests, etc.), and certification of completed structural works and related quantities.
• Contribute to technical progress reports, site meeting minutes, nonconformity reports and as-built documentation related to structural and construction aspects.
