Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The ICT Assistant is responsible for providing technical support for the Halo Trust ICT infrastructure in all locations (Idlib, Dar’a and Deir Ez zor), ensuring the smooth operation of hardware, software, internet connectivity, and network systems. The role supports the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ICT equipment while ensuring compliance with Halo trust ICT standards.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Maintenance and Technical Support
1-Conduct routine hardware checks and maintenance for laptops, desktop computers, printers, tablets, mobile phones, and other ICT equipment.
2-Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware-related issues and coordinate repair or replacement when necessary.
3-Maintain inventory records of ICT hardware assets and ensure proper tracking of assigned equipment.
4-Perform periodic functionality checks to ensure all devices are operational and compliant with the Halo trust standards.
Operating System Installation and Configuration
1-Install and configure new operating systems on ICT equipment in accordance with the Halo Trust ICT standards and security protocols.
2-Prepare and configure newly procured laptops and desktops for deployment to staff.
3-Ensure operating systems are updated with required drivers, and security updates.
4-Perform system formatting, reinstallation, and recovery when required.
5-Track the security back up for the devices with the ICT department.
Software Installation and User Support
1-Install, configure, and update approved software applications on organizational devices.
2-Provide technical support to staff for software-related issues and troubleshooting.
3-Ensure all software installations comply with licensing requirements and internal ICT policies.
4-Support deployment of specialized Information Management applications as required.
Network and Internet Infrastructure Support
1-Maintain and monitor internet equipment including routers, modems, switches, and access points.
2-Conduct regular checks on network performance and internet connectivity.
3-Troubleshoot network-related issues and escalate major technical faults when necessary.
4-Assist in setting up and configuring network devices and wireless access points.
5-Conduct regular internet speed testing and document results for performance monitoring.
6-Follow up with internet service providers regarding connectivity issues, outages, or performance degradation.
7-Provide recommendations for connectivity improvements where necessary.
Documentation and Reporting
1-Maintain accurate records of hardware maintenance, software installations, and technical support activities.
2-Prepare periodic ICT support reports for the supervisor.
3-Document troubleshooting procedures and technical resolutions for future reference.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1-Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
2-Relevant certifications in hardware, networking, or system administration are an asset.
Specific Vacancy Requirements
Experience
1-Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in IT support, system maintenance, or network administration.
2-Experience in hardware troubleshooting, OS installation, and network device configuration.
3-Previous experience in NGO/humanitarian environments is an advantage.
