Responsibilities
The Senior Project Finance Officer is responsible for the financial management of assigned projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, expenditure tracking, donor compliance, and timely financial reporting. The role acts as a key liaison between finance, procurement and program teams to support effective project implementation and proposal development.
Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Prepare detailed donor budgets in line with donor rules and internal guidelines
2. Prepare financial sections of new proposals
3. Revise and update project budgets based on implementation needs and approvals
4. Track project expenditures regularly against approved budgets
5. Monitor budget utilization and identify variances, risks, and funding gaps
6. Ensure all project costs are correctly coded and allocated in the accounting system
7. Prepare accurate and timely donor financial reports as per reporting requirements
8. Reconcile donor reports with accounting records and investigate differences
9. Prepare ad-hoc financial reports, analysis, and data requests to support management decisions, donor requirements, and audit processes
10. Maintain detailed supporting documents for all reported financial figures
11. Coordinate closely with program teams on budget performance and forecasts
12. Provide financial input to support project planning and decision-making
13. Ensure full compliance with donor regulations and internal financial procedures
14. Prepare financial data, schedules, and documentation for audits
15. Provide original supporting documents and explanations during audit processes
16. Maintain well-organized, complete, and audit-ready financial files
