Responsibilities
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support on the drafting and dissemination of information products
• Prepare maps: Identify map information needs, Analyse map information sources, ensure accurate linkages between spatial representation and assessment data, produce products in line with IOM guidelines and effectively meet the needs of the final report;
• Assist on the technical development of GIS products, including websites, ad-hoc and regular reports;
• Develop, recommend and implement visual designs, based on needs and feedback for all GIS products;
• Support the IM/DB Officer in the preparation, and production of static maps: identify map information needs, ensure quality maps are appropriately linked to spatial databases and assessment results;
• Support the development of the GIS component of the team: by providing technical advice throughout assessment lifecycle, assist on major projects involving IM and reporting teams and when needed provided training and problem-solving support on GIS apps;
• Participate in documenting, developing and delivering user manuals and training programs for the developed and tested systems with the Programme Coordinator and IM/DB Officer.
• Contribute to developing best practices and lessons learned processes for the purpose of the conservation of programme development and institutional memory;
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned.


Qualifications
EDUCATION

• School diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Enviornmental Science, Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.


EXPERIENCE

• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
• Experience in implementing data collection methodologies and use of the needed technologies including KOBO.
• Ability to strategically plan, coordinate and execute program activities, including training.
• Good understanding of IOM data collection methodologies and their use, as well as data quality control.
• At least 4 years of experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field, preferably within humanitarian settings.
• Familiarity and experience with development and maintenance of operational systems related to the implementation of activities and large datasets
• Proven experience using advanced Excel (PowerQuery), databases (MS Access preferred), PowerBI, Kobo Toolbox, and other data visualization tools.
• Familiarity with python and GIS a benefit.
• Familiarity with CCCM cluster operations and humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.


SKILLS

• Proficient with ArcGIS
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel;
• Proved experience in conducting field research and preparing research reports;
• Good knowledge of the migration context in Syria and the region;
• A good knowledge of IOM’s mandate and activities is a distinct advantage.
