Responsibilities
- Contributes to defining communication and, where relevant, prevention objectives, strategies, and plans of action for the geographic area or programme covered, in line with the field sub-structure's priorities and/or the delegation’s communication/prevention strategy.
- Designs and delivers regular Operational Communication & Community Engagement capacity-building sessions for ICRC staff and Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) volunteers, with a focus on strengthening their ability to represent the ICRC and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to diverse interlocutors and audiences.
- Supports the Head of Sub-Structure and/or Communication or Communication/Prevention Manager in networking with relevant stakeholders and represents the ICRC to various audiences.
- Conducts tailored dissemination sessions for external stakeholders and target audiences across the Sub-Delegation’s areas of responsibility (Idlib and Aleppo governorates).
- Gathers and analyses perceptions of the ICRC among various audiences, both within and following dissemination sessions, using standard tools and reporting mechanisms to inform contextual understanding and adapt field approaches.
- Interprets and translates from and into the local language to support communication programmes when required.
- Supports the planning and organization of public outreach events, including end-to-end coordination and follow-up, in close collaboration with the second Aleppo Communication Field Officer.


Qualifications
- University degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as communications, political science, international relations, or journalism.
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a field relevant to communication.
- Very good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
- Computer skills (proficiency in MS Office); familiarity with digital communication tools.
- IHL knowledge is an asset.
- Experience in an ICRC operation is an asset.
