Responsibilities
- Supports with the coordination of relevant information (death/burial, reports of potential sites with human remains, missing persons) for the search for and identification of missing persons’ process.
- Ensures individual cases are duly processed, systematically updated and followed up, including providing input/advice on the follow up and actions to be taken by authorities, National Society and/or teams in ICRC structures.
- Supports in the updating procedures and protocols adapted to (large-scale) collection of data related to the missing persons, dead, sites with human remains, and related events (burial/transfer/storage/examination) and coming from different stakeholders.
- Ensures quality assurance and control to the overall process of information management related to search for and identification of missing persons and supports changes.
- Ensures that data is managed confidentially and in compliance with Data Protection rules
- Carries out research on the judicial and medico-legal systems related to missing and deceased persons aiming at feeding a better understanding and analysis of the context.
- Conducts/participates in relevant meetings, briefings, training sessions and workshops internally and externally and prepares minutes of meeting and follow-up action.
- Leads on the knowledge and information management: monitor, collect, analyse and when applicable translate into English local public data, relevant to the forensic file.
- Supports in applying and delivering Forensic expertise in a given area of investigative techniques, missing & unidentified persons data or data and information analysis, including from open sources, and data management and archiving.
- Contributes to the ICRC’s efforts to clarify the fate and whereabouts of persons missing in connection with the conflict in Syria. Working in close coordination with the Forensic Analysts of the Search Team, and in collaboration with the wider Search Team in Amman, and Beirut

Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Forensic Sciences, Data Analytical Sciences, Criminology, Information Analysis, Intelligence Analysis or other relevant university studies (criminal law, IHL/IHRL, social sciences or equivalent law enforcement attested education). Qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.
- At least 6 years’ experience in forensic related practice, witness interview, (human rights) investigations, in medicolegal institutions or IO, NGO such as Interpol, CMP, ICMP
- Experience in the field of missing persons investigations; Disaster Victim Identification and / or Case management in human Identification is an advantage
- Continuing Education Course and/or certification in legal/police investigation and/or analysis is an advantage.
- Fluent command of English and Arabic
- Experience in writing of complex investigation reports (law enforcement).
- Proven experience in data analysis and management and interpretation.
- Computer proficiency.
