Responsibilities
Apron Operations Leadership
• Supervise all airside apron activities, including marshalling, pushback, towing, and surface movement on the apron.
• Ensure the apron remains FOD-free, safe, and compliant with airside safety and security regulations at all times.
GSE Operations and Maintenance
• Oversee the allocation, deployment, and real-time management of GSE (e.g., pushback tugs, belt loaders, GPUs, air starters, stairs, dollies, refuelling vehicles).
• Monitor GSE availability, serviceability, and utilization to support efficient turnarounds and minimize delays.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, defect reporting, and rectification of GSE in collaboration with the GSE maintenance team; ensure only serviceable equipment is used on the apron.
Aircraft Turnaround Management
• Lead and optimize end-to-end aircraft turnaround operations from chocks-on to chocks-off, ensuring adherence to agreed turnaround times (TTT) and airline SLAs.
• Monitor all ground handling services during turnaround (baggage/cargo loading & unloading, refuelling, cleaning, catering, potable water, lavatory servicing, passenger boarding/disembarkation, crew changes).
• Identify bottlenecks, implement corrective measures, and allocate delay codes accurately when required.
Team Supervision & Development
• Directly supervise, coach, and performance-manage Turnaround Coordinators (and associated ramp/ground handling teams as applicable).
• Conduct shift briefings, assign duties, monitor performance, and provide on-the-job training and feedback.
• Ensure team compliance with safety protocols, SOPs, and company policies; lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture.
Safety, Compliance & Emergency Response
• Enforce strict adherence to IATA AHM, ICAO, local CAA, and company safety standards across all apron and GSE activities.
• Act as the key on-apron safety leader; investigate incidents/near-misses, complete reports, and implement preventive actions related to ground hadling.
• Respond to apron emergencies, disruptions, or irregular operations (e.g., diversions, AOG, adverse weather) and coordinate with airport control, airline operations, and emergency services.
Coordination & Communication
• Serve as the primary point of contact for ground handling apron-related matters during shift, liaising with airline representatives, flight crew, airport operations, ATC, fuel, maintenance, and other service providers.
• Participate in pre-flight and post-flight briefings, daily operational meetings, and performance reviews when necessary.
Performance & Reporting
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, turnaround compliance, GSE utilization, safety incidents, and team productivity.
• Prepare shift reports, incident logs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in ground handling operations in the apron, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience working within ICAO-compliant airport environments.
• Strong knowledge of airside ground handling operations procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks (IATA AHM/IGOM, ISAGO and GSE standards).
• Excellent situational awareness, communication, and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.
• Proficiency in operational planning, inspection scheduling, and incident investigation.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders..
• ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, are a requirement to be successful in this role (this point to be available for all roles that have SAP access)
• Fluent in Arabic and English
