The Aga Khan Foundation in Syria seeks to employ a Youth Entrepreneurship and Employable Skills Project Officer- Tamkeen for its office in Salamieh.
Tamkeen Project aims to empower vulnerable adolescents and youth across multiple governorates by equipping them with the tools, skills, and services needed to thrive in educational, social, and economic spheres. Through non-formal education programs, vocational training, and life skills development, the project
enhances their capacity to actively participate in community-building and working life. By fostering innovation, promoting volunteerism, and providing safe, inclusive learning spaces, the project enables participants to contribute constructively to their communities while advancing their personal, educational, and professional aspirations.The Youth Entrepreneurship and Employable Skills Project Officer will implement programs that strengthen youth and adolescents' employability and entrepreneurial skills counseling, seeks to establish a sustainable support structure for the employment of youth in micro-enterprises, and liaison activities with the local private
sector businesses in the job placement of youth. He/she will be responsible for close collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that training programs meet the labor market needs, are sensitive to gender issues, and contribute to the capability of young people to pursue their goals. The incumbent will report directly to the Project Coordinator
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in developing training modules addressing core employability skills in the Syrian context; for instance, communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and basic computer skills.
- Participate in the design, supervision, and implementation of the YES activities in line with the project annual strategic plan
- Collaborate with the Vocational Training Officer to perform light skills needs assessments that will guide employment programming and support in creating relevant, market-driven service plans, and enhance youth-led enterprises concept.
- Develop and deliver entrepreneurship training modules in business planning, financial literacy, Business Model Canvas, feasibility study, financial analysis, budgeting, and marketing.
- Collaborate with VT Officer to equip trainees and graduates with work readiness skills, and provide training on professional employment practices, work ethics and etiquette to enhance their
employability.
- Assess the VT Officer in mentoring the trainees on producing professional documents such as updated CVs and cover letters; interview techniques and preparation
- Coordinate with the work and enterprise (W&E) program team to create linkages and liaise with the local employers, businesses, and community organizations for the placement of graduates either as interns or employees.
- Develop tracking mechanisms to measure the participant outcomes and successes: graduate follow-up for current employment placement and application of skill utilization.
- Collect and analyze data on program effectiveness, and recommend changes to the program based on findings.
- Provide targeted youth with access to a wide range of available job opportunities, advertisements and vacancies, and assist youth in signing up for job fairs.
- Ensure that all training and outreach programs are sensitive to gender and supportive of the inclusion of young women and other groups at a disadvantage.
- Develop activities that help young women enter non-traditional careers and increase their labour market participation.
- Facilitate linkages with appropriate research agencies, innovation leaders and technology experts to support youth-led businesses connecting to established entrepreneurs and business development service providers relevant to their enterprises for mentorship and coaching facilitators management and capacity building
- Recruit, train, and supervise facilitators who will assist in implementing the YES activities to ensure that they are fully equipped to assist in training and mentoring the youth.
- Facilitate workshops and training for volunteers and facilitators to strengthen their capacity to effectively contribute to the project.

- The applicant must have a university degree in Social Science, Business Administration or any related field.

- High communication, problem-solving, teamwork and negotiation skills
- Having a good understanding of community culture.
